During the Winter of 2012, my husband and I decided to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary by taking a nice little one-week trip to to Savannah, Georgia. This is an extremely historically-rich city so it was essential that we stayed in the historic district. After lots of bickering back and fourth, and hours of research, we settled upon the Holiday Inn, in the Historic District, Savannah GA.
As soon as we arrived to this hotel, we knew that we made the best choice. The lobby was beautiful and very clean. They also had a little table set up where guests could grab a cup of warm coffee or citrus water while checking in. I had no problems accessing my reservation, I even told them that we were celebrating our anniversary and they even went on to recommend romantic destinations throughout the city where we could celebrate. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived but they allowed me to park my car and they stored away all of my luggage so I wouldn’t have to make another trip back. All in all, the members of the staff, valet and housekeeping were all a pleasure to talk to and very helpful as well.
It is right in the center of the city and walking distance from all of the shops, restaurants and beautiful squares, so we were able to do plenty of exploring. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to be in the beauty of the city.
The destination is one thing but the interior and the amenities of the hotel made us never want to leave. For dinner, we ate at the full-service restaurant and bar, which had things such as steak, pasta and tons of awesome wines to chose form. The breakfast was also amazing, they truly went above and beyond with the gluten-free bagel option.
We were lucky enough to get a corner room on the 5th floor and the view was amazing, and that is saying the least. We were able to look right out on the river to see all of the city lights and boats. The room was also very nice as well – The beds were comfortable, a little firm but it was still allowed for a good night’s sleep. For the money, the hotel was perfect! I just wish they wouldn’t of charged a separate $20 a day for valet parking.
One last thing that I want to add is that no trip to this hotel is complete without going to the top of the hotel, where there is a pool with some tables and lounge chairs. The view from the view is amazing and you get a nice look at Savannah.
